Colorado State Patrol recently arrested a Larimer County man after he allegedly crashed his SUV on the US 287, killing a passenger. The Loveland Reporter Herald recently reported that the suspect faces charges of vehicular assault, vehicular homicide, DUI and DUI per se.

The suspect was driving southbound on the 287 in the early morning hours of October 9 when he veered to the left side of the road, sped down an embankment and went through a fence. His SUV then sped across a drainage ditch, crashed through another fence and rolled over one time, according to authorities. A backseat passenger was ejected and died on the scene. A front seat passenger suffered serious injuries, and the suspect suffered only minor injuries.  Both were treated and released from a local hospital. Neither the suspect nor his passengers were wearing seat belts.

At press time, the suspect was being held at the Larimer County Detention Center.

Vehicular homicide carries long prison sentences in Colorado. The best Colorado criminal defense attorney this suspect can afford will not be able spare him jail time due to the multiple charges he faces, all of them serious. What his defense attorney can do is advise him of his rights under the law and ensure that his rights are respected by all parties involved in his case. The attorney will examine all of the evidence presented to determine the best defense option for his client. He will also make sure his client is well prepared for any possible outcome. If you stand accused of DUI manslaughter or DUI homicide, you’re going to need a good criminal defense attorney to work diligently on your behalf.
